SomeMaria and I visited Akbük in March 2026, and the weather was surprisingly pleasant for the time of year—around 15 degrees Celsius. Akbük is a serene, picturesque seaside neighbourhood in the Didim district of Aydın Province, Türkiye, known for its clear Aegean waters, sandy beaches, and surrounding mountains. Situated roughly 30 minutes from Milas-Bodrum Airport, this former fishing village has grown from a small permanent population into a popular summer resort, yet it retains its calm, tranquil atmosphere.
We had always talked about buying our place in the sun, and after years of visiting this beautiful neighbourhood together, we finally decided to make it our second home in 2012.

Since purchasing our apartment, we’ve been fortunate to enjoy it whenever we can. However, the property sits empty for most of the year—except for the few times we manage to visit. Rather than letting this wonderful space go to waste, we’ve decided to share it with family and friends who are looking for a relaxing getaway in a stunning corner of the world.
